Alchemy In The News

  • "I've had more time to digest your site and it is even better than at first glance." -- Gary Smith, Author Of "How I Trade For A Living", August 12, 2005

  • "Alchemy Of Trading is a bit different from those we've reviewed before although Stephen Vita posts plenty of breaking market news and related charts. Vita, who has an MBA and has been trading professionally for 15 years, presents a stream-of-consciousness in his multiple daily posts...also shares commentary on his own portfolio and trades...a better tool for experienced investors who can blend this conversation in with their own studied experience." --- Barron's, March 7, 2005

  • "Ten years ago, professional stock trader Stephen Vita, never one to hang around the office, would go on bike rides around New York City carrying a book-size box with an antenna sticking out and stock tickers flashing across a display screen." --- BusinessWeek Online, April 27, 2005

SUBSCRIBER FEEDBACK

  • "Keep up the great market calls. I know you don't like the Street "Predictors", but your sense of when to move in and out of positions is uncanny. Whatever the source, just keep on doing it!" -- Fred Ballantiene , March 1, 2007
  • "I've cancelled most of my other subscriptions to focus on what you offer at Alchemy.....thanks for your work, Stephen." -- Sanja Hite, May, 12, 2007
  • "Your honesty about both good trades and trades gone bad keeps me coming back because that's how we learn."-- Jack Dombroski, June 1, 2007

What Would George Costanza Do? 5/24/06 4:25 PM

Just as in 1997 and 1998, I think you must pay attention to those struggling Emerging Markets as Central Bankers around the world -- for the most part -- move into liquidty strangling mode.

Back then the tag "Sub-Merging" markets became popular description, and you'll probably see that rearing its head again soon enough.

But my feeling is that maybe equity selling is overdone, a short-term bottom could come soon and, most importantly, there could also be a sector rotation out of metals/materials....... you want to try to catch such a thing in it's infancy if possible.

Rotation into what?

I'm not sure yet.

But the Volatility we saw today?......That was something, and let's listen in on the brain waves of a trader in the midst of that crazed action and caught on our specialized EEG machine and transcribed into rather poor, but useable English.

This person was evidently not a Wharton graduate, so I apologize in advance:

Where's this water dripping from?....Is there a leak in this rat trap?.....Oh, those are beads of hot sweat falling off my feverish, rank brow.......tastes salty.....let's see now..... I've made a tidy sum of cash here....should I fold and take it home right now?......I mean, you can't get another fade into the close can you?....that's what everyone expects, and what everyone expects doesn't happen right?...right?.....who am I talking to anyway?....oh, yeah, that's just me.....but it can't fold again can it?....and what if I sell here and it ramps in the afternoon?.....do I have the stomach for buying it again?....I don't think so....hell, I'm a coward at heart....... need someone to blame it on if I blow it.....let me travel over to that web site.....the guy's a loser and......why am I paying the guy $25 a month?......I'm a coward and a moron......good lord, it's down 40 points now and....wait, it's coming back now......I'm selling...No, I'm not......what did George say.....do the opposite?....I'm not sure.....

Stephen
